OUR VILLAGE

Dominated from the Aguilón rock by a 12th-century castle, the town of Aguilar de Campoo is a key point on the Palencia Romanesque route and the gateway to the eastern Palencia mountains

Among its most attractive monuments is the porticoed square, where the collegiate church of San Miguel is located. This 14th-century church has a museum containing the parish treasure, with precious pieces of goldsmith's work, paintings and ivories. No less important is the monastery of Santa María la Real, a fine example of the pre-Gothic style and one of the oldest in Spain. Its church houses a museum with a rich and varied collection of Romanesque works. And finally, the hermitage of Santa Cecilia, with its charismatic tower.
